Tim & Laura Everist
Head Pastor
Tim was born and raised in Oregon with his parents and three brothers.
He made a decision to trust Jesus as his Savior at a young age after nearly drowning. His parents took him to church where he grew in his faith and had the opportunity to hear God’s call on his life at the age of 14 at a youth conference.
Since then, he has followed the Lord in believer’s baptism, left all he knew with a $99 one way ticket and $200 in his bank account and took the leap to attend Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida. The Lord provided a full time job for him as well as many blessings and established relationships that have encouraged him in his walk throughout the years. It was also there that he met Laura.
They both had opportunities to serve and grow in various ministries, which included being counselors involved at summer camp in Port Charlotte, FL.
They married and started their family while serving in the youth ministry at Trinity before moving to Oregon to work and volunteer serving the youth at his home church. Life was getting busier as they grew their family but God had more for them to do. They received a call from college friends to come back to Port Charlotte and served for five years helping run the children’s ministry and summer camp. After a year of secular work, they received a call to pray over helping at Sonshine.
The Lord used their friend Gretchen to bring them here and allowed them to serve for a couple years before calling her home. Pastor Dale, Cynzia, Laurel, and Zac have all been a blessing and encouragement to their family as they prayed over and faithfully helped guide them to now accept the position of pastoring Sonshine.
